Heralds of Good News, A Clerical Missionary Society of Apostolic Life was founded on the 14th of October 1984 in the Diocese of Eluru AP, India. Very Rev. Dr. Jose Kaimlet is the founder of Heralds of Good News. Most Rev. John Mulagada, the former Bishop of Eluru AP, India was the patron of the Society and he approved the canonical erection and the foundation of the HGN in the Diocese of Eluru. “The specific charism of the HGN is to train and supply wherever there is need, dedicated, hardworking and saintly missionaries”(Cf.5).
The foundation of the Mother House (Minor Seminary)of HGN was laid on the 12th of December 1984 at Kurukkuru in the Diocese of Eluru. From there, the Society made a rapid growth both in spiritual and temporal areas. Acknowledging and appreciating the contribution of the HGN to the Universal Church, the Holy See approved and granted the status of “Pontifical Right” on the 5th of May 1999. Thanks be to God for His blessings on the HGN. We are blessed with 478 permanently incorporated members. Our missionaries serve in India and abroad, both in the first world and third world countries. The Heralds of Good News has 5 Provinces. Mary Queen of Apostles is one of the 5 Provinces of the HGN.
The canonical erection and the inauguration of the Province of Mary Queen of Apostles was held on the 11th of October 2008 at Heralds of Good News Seminary, Melavalady, Trichy, Tamilnadu, India. Most. Rev. Agnelo Rufino Gracias, the Pontifical Commissary to the HGN, together with Rev. Msgr. Peter Francis, the Vicar General of the Diocese of Kumbakonam, besides the priests and religious present, inaugurated the Province of Mary Queen of Apostles.
